Khlong Toei Market, Bangkok (Part 1) – Getting to the Market

Last year during my annual trip to Bangkok, I had some free time and decided to go to a place I have only heard before – Khlong Toei Market.

Named as “best-kept secret in Bangkok” and “the kitchen of Bangkok”, Khlong Toei Market has a lot of fresh ingredients to offer, meat, fish, vegetables, spices, rice etc.

Luckily getting to the market is not difficult at all, just ride the MRT (subway) to Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre station. Go up at the nearest exit, cross the bridge and here you are.

After crossing bridge, you will be greeted with the indoor part of the market. There are not many stores opened in the afternoon when I visited, I imagine it would be very busy in the morning.

Walk past that, you will see the market in its true form – local, chaotic, and refreshing. After stepping in, I cannot help but be amazed and started shooting away.
